How to run Windows on Mac?

Mac is one of the biggest players in the computer world but still, Windows is the dominant operating system. Mac and Windows are rivals to each other from the beginning and every user who uses their system has their own points for advantages and drawbacks. Mac provides its own hardware, unlike windows which are just software. So especially for Mac users there comes a certain time when they need windows operating system to run a specific program or application which have no alternative for Mac.

There are different ways to run Windows over Mac which we can apply as per our needs.

If we just want to run few application without the hassle of installing whole windows operating system there is one third party application which enables us to do so. “Crossover” is an application for Mac that enables us to run Windows Application without installing the Windows Operating System.

If we are looking for flexible and full-fledged windows installation, we have four popular options.

  1. Boot Camp:  it offers the best performance as full resources of Mac is utilized. Certain portion of Mac’s hard disk is provided to windows. The only drawback of this option is we cannot use Mac and Windows at the same time. Either we need to book the OSX and run Mac operating System or boot Windows to run Windows operating system. Every time we need to run any OS, the computer needs to be restarted.
  2. Virtual Box: it is one of the third party programs which enable us to run windows over Mac.  Though is free program but configuring it to run the system is very much complicated and may lack some features to enjoy the windows OS as in one standalone windows based computer.
  3. Parallel Desktop: It is one of the solutions for seamlessly running windows on Mac without rebooting. This program provides hardware virtualization for Macintosh Computer with intel processors. The main advantage of this software application is we are able to run windows and Mac simultaneously. Further, windows Apps can be run as Mac’s application. It provides great user experience as windows apps can be placed in the dock of Mac OSX.
  4. VMware Fusion: VMware Fusion allows Intel-based Macs to run operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Linux, NetWare, or Solaris on virtual machines, along with their Mac OS X operating system using a combination of paravirtualization, hardware virtualization and dynamic recompilation. There are different versions released of this program and we can use the one which best support our Mac OSX.
